Brisbane, Airbus Helicopters has secured the first Australian order for its H160 medium twin-engine helicopter, with national logistics leader Linfox committing to the purchase. This landmark deal marks Linfox’s entry as an Airbus customer and introduces the next-generation rotorcraft to the Australian market.
The agreement follows a comprehensive demonstration tour across Australia, where the H160 performed over 60 flights spanning more than 2,000 kilometres. This successful tour validated the aircraft’s performance and adaptability for the continent’s diverse and demanding operational conditions.
Lindsay Fox, Founder of the Linfox Group, expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership: “We’re excited to take delivery of the Airbus H160. It is our first aircraft with Airbus and we look forward to a long relationship with such a trusted company that has a proven record of performance, safety and reliability.”
Olivier Michalon, Executive Vice President of Global Business at Airbus Helicopters, welcomed the milestone: “We’re truly honoured by Linfox’s endorsement and delighted to welcome them as a new customer. This first order is an important step for Airbus in Australia. We look forward to seeing the H160 take flight here soon, delivering exceptional value, enhanced safety, and efficiency.”
Linfox will initially utilise the aircraft for corporate passenger transport missions across its national operations. The H160, however, is a versatile multi-mission platform equally capable in emergency medical services (EMS), search and rescue, law enforcement, and offshore energy support—roles Airbus anticipates it will fulfil for other Australian operators.
As one of the world’s most technologically advanced helicopters, the H160 is designed for superior safety, comfort, and efficiency. It features the Helionix digital avionics suite for enhanced situational awareness and reduced pilot workload. Its innovative design significantly reduces environmental impact, with Blue Edge rotor blades cutting perceived sound by up to 50% and Safran Arrano engines delivering an 18% reduction in fuel burn. The aircraft is also certified to operate on a 50% blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The H160’s combination of an expansive cabin, excellent visibility, swift reconfiguration, and streamlined support architecture positions it as a standout choice for the high-stakes, multi-role demands of the Australian market. This order with Linfox underscores the growing regional demand for a new generation of high-performance, versatile rotary-wing aircraft.
