AerCap Holdings N.V., the global leader in aviation leasing, has entered into purchase and leaseback agreements with Virgin Atlantic for six brand-new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. These jets will be sourced directly from Virgin Atlantic’s existing order book with Airbus. The delivery stream is set to commence in the second quarter of 2026 and will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.

This transaction reinforces a long-standing and strategic partnership between the two companies. For AerCap, it represents a valuable addition of a next-generation, in-demand aircraft type to its world-class portfolio. For Virgin Atlantic, it is a capital-efficient step forward in its ambitious widebody fleet modernization program.

Peter Anderson, AerCap’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the significance of the deal: “We are pleased to build on our successful relationship with Virgin Atlantic, a truly iconic brand in global aviation. The A330neo is a flagship aircraft for efficiency and passenger comfort, and we are confident it will be a tremendous asset for Virgin Atlantic’s network. This agreement underscores our role in facilitating fleet renewal and supporting our customers’ sustainability goals through the latest technology.”

The Airbus A330-900neo is a cornerstone of modern, efficient long-haul travel. It features advanced aerodynamic improvements, new Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and a new, larger wingspan. These technologies combine to offer a significant reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft, aligning directly with airline sustainability targets.

Ansar Hussain, Chief Financial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, emphasized the customer and operational benefits: “Our multi-billion-pound investment in a young, efficient fleet is central to our strategy. The introduction of these A330neos will be pivotal, allowing us to retire older aircraft and elevate our passenger experience. These aircraft will feature our newest cabin designs, including more premium seats and our exclusive Retreat Suite. Our partnership with AerCap provides the financial flexibility to deliver the very best of Virgin Atlantic innovation and service to our customers.”

The agreement signals continued confidence in the long-haul travel market, particularly on transatlantic routes where Virgin Atlantic is a major player. The A330neo’s range and economics make it ideally suited for such operations. As these six aircraft join the fleet later this decade, they will play a crucial role in ensuring Virgin Atlantic operates one of the most modern and efficient airline fleets in the sky.
