Viasat, a global leader in satellite communications, has launched a new portfolio of dedicated connectivity services engineered for government uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) operations. Named VuaLe, this next-generation suite is designed to meet specific government requirements for flexibility, security, and operational control across a wide array of missions.
The portfolio offers a range of connectivity services—including Uncrewed Air, L-MAX, G2X Air, G2X Air Plus, and K-MAX—allowing operators to select cost-effective options tailored to specific mission needs. These services are designed to support critical applications such as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), public safety, border security, defense, and scientific research.
A cornerstone of the new offering is Uncrewed Air, a service providing reliable and cost-effective L-band connectivity through Viasat’s global network. It aims to make secure, resilient satellite links accessible for mission-critical UAV operations, ensuring continuous communications for a broader range of government operators.
Complementing this service, Viasat has also introduced a new suite of compact, lightweight, and low-power terminals designed for UAV integration. Weighing from just 440 grams, these terminals provide a dependable Command and Control (C2) link via L-band, enabling continuous operation in challenging environments. Their small size, weight, and power (SWaP) profile make them particularly suitable for smaller drone platforms, offering global reach and operational flexibility.
“The launch of this new service portfolio reinforces Viasat’s commitment to advancing UAV communications with secure, resilient, and flexible solutions,” said Todd McDonell, President of International Government at Viasat. “As demand grows for UAV missions, we aim to enable our customers across government and defense industries to operate with greater situational awareness, operational efficiency, and cost control.”
This dedicated portfolio underscores Viasat’s focus on meeting the evolving connectivity demands of modern government UAV operations, providing integrated terminal and service solutions for enhanced mission success.
