Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has cemented its partnership with Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, by finalizing a new 15-year maintenance agreement. The comprehensive contract covers the APS5000 auxiliary power units (APUs) across Scoot’s fleet of 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada, emphasized the strategic nature of the pact: “This new contract builds on the longstanding relationship we have developed with Scoot. The maintenance solutions we provide help ensure the peak performance of the APS5000 APU fleet, delivering predictable maintenance costs, long-term durability, and dispatch reliability for their operations.”

The agreement focuses on sustaining the advanced performance of the all-electric APS5000, an APU renowned for its technological leadership. Its design is a benchmark in the industry, offering Scoot significant benefits in fuel efficiency and emissions reduction while simplifying maintenance procedures. By guaranteeing that the APUs are maintained to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards, the contract directly supports Scoot’s operational smoothness and allows the airline to concentrate on its core passenger experience.

The APS5000 stands out for its environmental and operational credentials. It holds the distinction of being the quietest APU in its class while also achieving the industry’s lowest emissions. With the capability to produce 450kVA of electrical power at sea level and operate at altitudes up to 43,100 feet, it is a critical systems component for the 787. The model has seen widespread adoption, with over 1,400 units manufactured and a combined fleet record nearing 16 million flight hours.

P&WC’s tailored maintenance programs are designed to offer airlines like Scoot operational flexibility and cost predictability. These programs are engineered to maximize APU performance and extend intervals between maintenance events, ensuring that the APS5000 fleet continues to be a dependable asset throughout its service life. This latest contract reinforces P&WC’s role as a key technical partner for Scoot as both companies aim for efficient and sustainable growth.
