German drone pioneer Wingcopter and Ukraine’s leading UAV manufacturer, TAF Industries, have announced plans to establish a joint venture to scale production of combat-proven reconnaissance drones in Germany. The Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed at the 62nd Munich Security Conference, with government representatives from both nations witnessing the historic agreement.
The partnership addresses a critical challenge facing Ukrainian defense production: maintaining uninterrupted supply while under constant threat of Russian attacks on manufacturing facilities. By relocating significant production capacity to Germany, the venture ensures battlefield-essential drones continue flowing to Ukrainian forces regardless of conditions inside Ukraine.
Under the agreement, TAF Industries contributes licensed designs and operational expertise from UAV systems extensively validated in real combat environments. Wingcopter provides industrial infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, and engineering resources through its newly established Wingcopter Security & Defence unit, enabling rapid production scaling in Germany.
Beyond immediate production, the partners plan joint development of next-generation UAV platforms tailored for European and NATO markets, strengthening the continent’s defense industrial base.
Volodymyr Zinovskyi, CEO of TAF Industries, emphasized the strategic importance: “This cooperation combines our battlefield-proven innovation with Germany’s industrial strength, turning operational expertise into scalable manufacturing. We’re ready to share our unique combat-driven experience to strengthen collective resilience.”
Tom Plümmer, Wingcopter Co-Founder and CEO, added: “We’re building a sustainable industrial bridge between Germany and Ukraine. This will secure and create jobs across Germany while contributing to Europe’s security.”
The venture operates under the “Build with Ukraine” framework, establishing long-term industrial cooperation in defense technologies proven under fire.
