A new contract signed on March 11 in Les Mureaux between ArianeGroup and Airbus Defence and Space in Spain marks a significant milestone for the Ariane 6 operational phase, with a strong emphasis on technological innovation and European collaboration. The agreement covers the production of 27 shipsets of critical, large-scale carbon fibre components.

Under the contract, Airbus Defence and Space will leverage its advanced materials expertise to produce the interface structures for the Ariane 6 main and upper stages, along with the upper stage adapters and the upper parts for all boosters. This high-tech work, centered in Spain, is vital for the launcher’s performance and industrial ramp-up.

Leaders from both companies highlighted the strategic value of the partnership. Anne Quillon of ArianeGroup framed the contract as a major step towards delivering on commitments to commercial and institutional clients, thereby securing Europe’s independent access to space. Raquel González Sola added that the collaboration goes beyond simple component delivery; it is about contributing cutting-edge technology directly to the success of Ariane 6. The contract will stimulate activities at major production sites in Bremen, Les Mureaux, and Kourou, demonstrating the unified European effort behind the heavy-lift launcher.
