Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) have renewed and extended their long-term maintenance agreement for the airline’s GE90 engines, solidifying one of the longest-running GE90 partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region.
The contract amendment was signed on March 25, 2026, at PAL’s headquarters in Manila. As one of the first GE90 operators in the region, the flag carrier continues to rely on AFI KLM E&M’s expertise to support the next phase of its fleet lifecycle.
Under the renewed agreement, AFI KLM E&M will deliver comprehensive support encompassing shop visits, predictive maintenance solutions, spare parts, on-wing services (OWS), and engine line-replaceable unit (LRU) pool access. The enhanced framework is tailored to address the operational and cost-efficiency demands of a maturing fleet. This extension reflects PAL’s confidence in AFI KLM E&M’s performance, technical capabilities, and deep GE90 experience in a competitive regional landscape.
Beyond the GE90, the partnership continues for the CFM56-5B engines powering PAL’s A320 fleet, supported by a dedicated local “OWS Corner” that provides tailored maintenance solutions.
Alvin Kendrich Limqueco, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Philippine Airlines, stated: “Renewing our GE90 support agreement with AFI KLM E&M helps ensure seamless operations, dependable service, and solutions suited to our evolving fleet. Their expertise and deep insight into our operations make them a truly reliable partner.”
Pierre Teboul, Senior Vice President Commercial at AFI KLM E&M, added: “Continuing our support for Philippine Airlines, a pioneering GE90 operator in the Asia-Pacific region, is a true privilege. This renewed agreement highlights the strong mutual trust we have built over the years. It also demonstrates our ability to adapt our solutions to the evolving needs of a mature fleet. Our teams are and will remain fully committed to delivering performance, reliability and long-term value.”
The extended agreement reinforces a partnership built on operational reliability, technical depth, and shared commitment to supporting Philippine Airlines’ fleet strategy.
