ST Engineering’s Marine business has secured a six-year sub-contract valued at approximately S$600 million from Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to design and supply platform systems for eight Missile Gun Boats for the Kuwait Naval Force. Under the agreement, ST Engineering will also build three of the vessels at its Singapore shipyard.

The company will deliver a full suite of platform design, integration, and technical expertise. The contract follows a similar award in 2021 from ADSB for four Offshore Patrol Vessels for the UAE Navy, reinforcing the strong partnership between both firms and ST Engineering’s track record in complex naval platforms.

The Missile Gun Boats will be based on ST Engineering’s proprietary Fearless-class patrol vessel, purpose-built for versatility and reliability in Middle Eastern operations. The design features high redundancy for critical systems to maximise mission readiness and support continuous operations. Advanced platform systems will enhance navigation precision and manoeuvrability, enabling high performance in littoral and blue-water environments, prolonged patrols, and demanding naval duties.

Tan Leong Peng, President of ST Engineering’s Marine business, said the win strengthens the Group’s momentum in international defence markets and captures rising demand for maritime security solutions in the Middle East. He noted that the Kuwait Naval Force’s choice of the Fearless-class design reflects growing regional acceptance, following deployments in Oman and the UAE.

With over 50 years of naval vessel design and engineering expertise, ST Engineering continues to invest in smart technologies to build advanced, mission-ready platforms for modern naval forces.
