Wisk’s Generation 6 aircraft—the first candidate for FAA-certified commercial autonomous passenger flight—has completed its historic maiden flight with key support from Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing company. Aurora’s engineers validated the battery system’s energy storage, heat safety, and wiring durability. They also refined aerodynamic stability and control for precise hovering, integrated GNC computing subsystems for pilotless operation, and tested structural bonding and lightning protection. The test validated vertical takeoff, hover, and stabilized maneuvers. Aurora’s interim president and CEO Clint Church stated, “The first flight is the culmination of years of collaboration… a testament to the team’s collective expertise.” Aurora continues to support Wisk’s flight test program to validate design and performance.
