Air Astana Group has cemented its growth strategy by signing a firm order for 25 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, marking the largest direct purchase in the company’s history. The deal, announced on the twentieth anniversary of the group first flying the A320 in 2006, comprises five A320neo and 20 A321neo models.

The new aircraft will support fleet expansion and renewal across the group’s two carriers: full-service Air Astana and low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan. Currently, the group operates 59 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, serving markets across Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Peter Foster, Chief Executive Officer of Air Astana, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition. “This substantial order reflects our long-term commitment to operational efficiency and service excellence,” Foster said. He highlighted the success of the A320neo Family within the group, particularly praising the A321LR’s premium configuration. “It allows us to offer what we believe is the world’s best narrow-body long-haul product, combining true range capability with an exceptional onboard experience. This new fleet will drive sustainable growth and profitability.”

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft, welcomed the endorsement. “This order further validates the unmatched economics of the A320neo Family in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets,” he stated. “We are pleased to support Air Astana’s vision to connect Kazakhstan to the world, solidifying a decades-long partnership and helping them maintain the regional gold standard for fleet modernization.”

The A320neo Family is renowned for its next-generation engine and Sharklet technologies, delivering at least 20 percent fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation aircraft. The aircraft also maximizes passenger comfort with one of the widest single-aisle cabins in the sky. Currently capable of operating with up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Airbus aims to achieve 100 percent SAF capability across its fleet by 2030.

With over 19,000 orders globally, the A320 Family remains the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft. For Air Astana Group, this landmark investment ensures its fleet remains modern, efficient, and competitive for years to come.
