In a significant endorsement of the 737 MAX program, aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group LLC (ACG) has announced a substantial new order for 50 Boeing jets. The firm order, finalized with Boeing [NYSE: BA], is split evenly between 25 737-8 and 25 737-10 model aircraft, significantly expanding the lessor’s portfolio of the newest and most fuel-efficient single-aisle airplanes.

This acquisition increases ACG’s total 737 MAX order book to 121 aircraft, solidifying its position as a leading customer. Notably, with 50 firm orders now placed for the largest variant, the 737-10, ACG holds the distinction of having the largest order book for that model among all aircraft lessors globally.

Thomas Baker, Chief Executive Officer and President of ACG, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal. “This order for additional 737 MAX aircraft enhances the strategic value of ACG’s orderbook and supports a key pillar of our growth strategy,” Baker stated. He highlighted the company’s ability to now offer global airline customers “a continuous stream of 737 MAX delivery positions from 2026 to 2033,” providing vital fleet planning certainty and the operational versatility of both the popular 737-8 and the high-capacity 737-10.

The order represents a strong vote of confidence from the leasing community, a critical segment of the aviation market. Brad McMullen, Boeing Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, noted, “ACG’s expanded order for the 737-10 reflects strong confidence in the airplane and its appeal to the lessor’s customers worldwide.” He further acknowledged ACG as “an established and highly valued partner” on the program, with Boeing looking forward to deepening the relationship as deliveries commence.

For lessors like ACG, the 737 MAX family’s combination of superior fuel efficiency, reduced operating costs, and exceptional route flexibility for short- and medium-haul travel makes it a highly attractive asset. The aircraft’s appeal is reflected in the broader market: lessors worldwide have now ordered nearly 1,300 737 MAX jets, constituting approximately one-fifth of the program’s total backlog. This latest agreement underscores the sustained demand for the 737 MAX family as the global aviation industry continues to prioritize modernization, sustainability, and economic efficiency in its fleet planning.
