In a landmark move to fuel its long-term expansion, Alaska Airlines announced its largest-ever aircraft order, placing a significant order with Boeing. The historic agreement includes firm orders for 105 737-10 aircraft and options for 35 more, plus five 787 Dreamliners.

“This fleet investment builds on the strong foundation Alaska has created to support steady, scalable and sustained growth,” said Alaska Air Group CEO and President Ben Minicucci, highlighting it as a key part of the company’s “Alaska Accelerate” strategic plan. The new aircraft will allow the airline to reach more global destinations while ensuring passengers fly on modern, fuel-efficient planes.

The 737-10, the largest variant of Boeing’s 737 MAX family, is central to Alaska’s domestic and short-haul international strategy. It will enable the carrier to serve more passengers on high-density routes at a lower cost per seat, supporting fleet renewal and network growth. For its long-haul ambitions, the five additional 787 Dreamliners will provide the range and efficiency needed to expand service to Europe and Asia, building on the airline’s existing fleet of five 787s. This order brings Alaska’s total 787 commitments to 12.

Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, called the deal “historic” and noted Boeing’s pride in Alaska’s continued trust. The order celebrates 60 years of partnership between the two Seattle-area companies, which began with the delivery of a Boeing 727. Alaska currently operates 248 737s and now has 174 737 MAX jets on order.

Alaska Airlines plans to use the new aircraft to grow its global network, aiming to serve at least 12 international destinations in the coming years. The 737-10 will integrate seamlessly with its existing 737 fleet, while the 787s will offer advanced passenger comfort for long-range travel. This major investment underscores Alaska’s commitment to strategic growth and modernization for the future.
