Deloitte taps Spire for enhanced satellite cyber and data operations.

Spire Global, a leader in space-based data and services, has announced a significant new contract with Deloitte to design, build, and operate eight dedicated satellites. This move marks a major expansion of Deloitte’s space-based operations, which focus on advanced cyber security and data collection for commercial and government clients.

The new satellite constellation will host Deloitte’s specialized on-orbit cyber payloads and geolocation technology. A core mission for the fleet will be to advance Deloitte’s Silent Shield program, an initiative aimed at innovating satellite defense and resilience against cyber threats. The satellites will be equipped with advanced radio frequency and geolocation payloads, serving as both data collectors and orbiting testbeds for cyber intrusion detection systems.

“This collaboration with Deloitte is about bringing next-generation capabilities to orbit with speed and agility,” said Theresa Condor, CEO of Spire. “Our model of building small satellites in months, not years, allows customers like Deloitte to move quickly, experiment, and adapt. By combining our trusted infrastructure with Deloitte’s vision, we’re working to build more resilient space assets for critical markets.”

The partnership builds on existing collaboration between the two firms. Earlier this year, Deloitte launched its first satellite, Deloitte-1, on a SpaceX mission. Spire has already worked with Deloitte to test and validate the latter’s cyber detection payload in orbit, analyzing real-time satellite signaling to identify and mitigate anomalies.

“Deloitte-1 was our first step. This dedicated eight-satellite program with Spire is the logical and substantial next phase,” said a Deloitte spokesperson. “It allows us to move from single demonstrations to a robust, operational capability.”

For Deloitte, the constellation is a strategic platform. “Spire’s integrated technology gives us a powerful foundation to engineer, test, and refine our on-orbit cyber solutions,” said Brett Loubert, leader of Deloitte’s U.S. Space practice. “As space becomes more critical to global infrastructure, our focus is on enhancing cyber resilience so our clients can operate confidently against sophisticated threats.”

Spire will provide an end-to-end solution under its Space Services model, covering satellite manufacturing, launch coordination, and ongoing operations. The company will utilize its global network of ground stations to ensure secure, encrypted data delivery directly to Deloitte’s cloud environment for analysis.

This contract signals a growing trend of major professional services firms investing directly in space infrastructure to deliver specialized, secure services. It underscores the increasing commercialization of orbit and the paramount importance of cybersecurity as space becomes a more contested and vital domain.
