Denmark has initiated a wide-scale deployment of an advanced integrated Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) solution from Terma to safeguard its strategic locations. This decisive action comes as a direct response to increasing incidents of unauthorized drone flights near vital national assets, including airports, military bases, and other critical infrastructure.

The comprehensive system is engineered for multi-domain awareness, fusing data from a diverse suite of sensors into a single, real-time operational picture. Its core components include a network of SCANTER radars, specifically chosen for their ability to detect and track small, low-signature drones even in challenging, cluttered environments. These radars are integrated with Ultra-High Definition Electro-Optical and Infrared cameras. These cameras, equipped with embedded AI models, provide visual confirmation and classification of potential threats, with both fixed and taskable units securing key approach routes.

Jesper Bøhnke, EVP and Chief Technology Officer at Terma, emphasized the necessity of this integrated philosophy. “Hybrid threats require hybrid solutions,” stated Bøhnke. “We are moving beyond standalone sensors to a next-generation approach that fuses data from multiple domains. This is the only viable way to not just detect, but to accurately classify and decisively respond before critical operations are disrupted.”

A key feature of the system is its design for continuous operation and rapid fielding, enhancing both day-to-day resilience and scalable crisis response. The platform empowers operators by managing hundreds of simultaneous targets, thereby sustaining crucial situational awareness. Furthermore, the system records all sensor data, enabling detailed forensic analysis. This allows authorities to learn from incidents, adapt their tactics, and continuously improve the nation’s defensive posture.

This deployment is the result of long-standing collaboration with Danish and NATO partners and is part of a broader initiative by Terma to work with national authorities in countering the evolving threat posed by unmanned aerial systems.
