EOS Awarded Contract to Supply RWS for Australian Army IFVs

Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has secured a multi-year contract, valued at $108 million, from Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA), the prime contractor for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) LAND 400 Phase 3 project. This major award is for the supply of its world-leading Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the new Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) fleet.

Under the agreement, EOS will deliver an enhanced R400S RWS, purpose-built for the Australian Army and fully integrated with the AS21 Redback IFV. The systems will be manufactured at EOS’s facility in Canberra, leveraging a robust national supply chain of over 100 Australian companies. The contract includes the delivery of RWS units, spare parts, training, and documentation.

This contract is a significant win for Australian defence industry and sovereign capability. The work will support skilled jobs, strengthen the local manufacturing base, and showcase domestic innovation on a program of strategic national importance. EOS is a global technology provider with over 2,500 systems sold worldwide, including more than 700 for the Australian Army.

The LAND 400 Phase 3 program will deliver 129 Redback IFVs, enhancing the Army’s combat power. EOS’s role underscores its position as a leading supplier of advanced defence equipment, delivering critical capability while generating substantial economic benefits through local investment and development.
