In a significant move to expand its defense capabilities, Firefly Aerospace, a leader in space technology, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire SciTec, Inc., a specialist in advanced national security systems. The deal, valued at approximately $855 million, will be financed through a combination of $300 million in cash and $555 million in Firefly stock.
This strategic acquisition is designed to merge Firefly’s space-based platforms with SciTec’s sophisticated software and data analytics, creating a more comprehensive defense solutions provider. The integration aims to deliver faster, more accurate threat intelligence to military personnel by enhancing capabilities in critical areas like missile warning, space domain awareness, and multi-domain command and control.
“Bringing SciTec into the Firefly family accelerates our ability to support vital defense missions,” stated Jason Kim, CEO of Firefly Aerospace. He emphasized that SciTec’s proven expertise in processing complex data will be pivotal for initiatives like the Golden Dome program, providing integrated, software-defined solutions to protect national security interests.
SciTec brings to the table a robust operational portfolio, including a recent $259 million contract with the U.S. Space Force to advance the FORGE ground processing framework. For the twelve-month period ending June 2025, SciTec reported revenues of $164 million, supported by its work with various defense and intelligence agencies.
Jim Lisowski, CEO of SciTec, highlighted the cultural and strategic alignment between the two companies, noting their shared commitment to innovation and tackling complex national security challenges. Post-acquisition, SciTec will operate as a subsidiary of Firefly, with Lisowski continuing to lead the team and reporting directly to Kim.
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized by the end of 2025, pending standard regulatory approvals.
