Bell Textron Inc. has delivered a second Bell 505 helicopter to the Fort Worth Police Department, marking a new chapter in a partnership that spans nearly 75 years. The delivery was celebrated at the department’s hangar at Meacham Airport, bringing together Bell executives and city officials.

“All of us at Bell value our long-standing relationships with the city of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Police Department,” said Danny Maldonado, Bell’s chief commercial officer and incoming CEO. “We are proud to be a partner in supporting the city’s public safety initiatives and advancing the department’s impact with this added capability.”

The historic connection dates to 1951, when Lawrence D. Bell broke ground in Fort Worth for what would become Bell Helicopter. Today, with approximately 4,600 employees in North Texas, Bell remains a cornerstone of the local economy, driving advanced manufacturing and skilled job growth in the region.

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker highlighted the symbiotic relationship. “We take so much pride in the city’s strong, lasting partnership with Bell,” Parker said. “It’s fitting that today we are celebrating the delivery of the top-tier Bell 505 helicopter to one of the best police departments in the nation.”

The Fort Worth Police Department’s Air Support Unit has relied on Bell aircraft since 1968, operating models like the Bell 47 and Bell 206 Jet Ranger. The department integrated its first Bell 505 in 2021. The addition of this second aircraft is set to significantly boost operational performance, enabling more versatile public safety missions across the city.

Police Chief Eddie Garcia emphasized the tactical advantages. “This aircraft’s advanced technology enhances our ability to keep officers on the ground safe,” Garcia stated. “It also gives us the ability to respond swiftly and effectively, keeping Fort Worth residents safe as well. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Bell, a company that exemplifies innovation and excellence right here in our own community.”

The new Bell 505 will provide the Air Support Unit with enhanced safety features, advanced capabilities, and greater operational reach, ensuring the department can serve and protect Fort Worth with increased efficiency and responsiveness.
