Red Cat Holdings, announced that a U.S. ally in the Asia-Pacific region has selected its Black Widow™ small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) following a competitive tender. The contract, secured in December 2025, marks the second Asia-Pacific nation in recent months to procure the Black Widow for military use, underscoring the platform’s growing international adoption. Deliveries for an undisclosed quantity of systems are scheduled throughout 2026.
Each Black Widow system includes two rugged aircraft, a ground control station (GCS), and other mission-critical components, providing a complete, portable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solution. The drone is engineered for performance in contested environments, featuring a secure communications architecture and compliance with U.S. defense procurement regulations, including the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
“This agreement highlights the trust our international partners place in Red Cat to deliver secure, U.S.-built drone systems purpose-built for today’s battlefield,” said Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat. “We’re honored to support our Asia-Pacific allies with advanced capabilities. As geopolitical dynamics shift, we see accelerating demand for autonomous, interoperable technologies that enhance allied operational readiness.”
The Black Widow is a cornerstone of Red Cat’s expanding “Family of Systems,” which spans air, land, and sea domains through subsidiaries like Teal Drones and FlightWave Aerospace. The company’s strategic expansion now also includes the maritime domain via Blue Ops, Inc., focusing on integrated uncrewed surface vessels (USVs).
While specific details of the new order and the prior Asia-Pacific sale remain confidential, the company indicated further information on both contracts will be released in the near future. This latest win solidifies Red Cat’s position as a strategic provider of American-made unmanned systems for defense and national security partners worldwide.
