Teledyne FLIR Defense has secured a $42.5 million delivery order from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command to provide its Rogue 1™ loitering munition systems under the Organic Precision Fires-Light (OPF-L) program. The contract calls for the delivery of over 600 of the advanced lethal drones, along with associated ground control stations and training kits, with fielding to Marine units set to begin this summer.

The OPF-L program is designed to equip Marine rifle squads and platoons with a portable, precision-strike capability to engage enemy targets beyond their direct line of sight. The man-packable Rogue 1 system is central to this mission, having demonstrated effectiveness in exercises against a variety of targets, including armored vehicles and dismounted personnel.

A key feature of the Rogue 1 is its operational flexibility. Operators can equip the drone with modular, mission-specific payloads tailored for different target types. Furthermore, an advanced fuzing system allows the munition to be safely recovered and reused if a mission is aborted or a target is disengaged. This reusability reduces the logistical burden for Marines in the field while enhancing tactical options.

The system is equipped for all-weather, day-and-night operations, integrating advanced electro-optical and FLIR Boson® 640+ thermal cameras for long-range reconnaissance. A novel gimballed payload system couples the sensors directly with the warhead, enabling exceptionally precise targeting.

“The accuracy and modularity of the Rogue 1 platform will enhance Marine lethality against whatever threats they may encounter in future conflicts,” said Dr. JihFen Lei, president of Teledyne FLIR Defense.

Company executives noted the strategic importance of the award. “This represents our first production-rate contract in the loitering munition market,” said George Bobb, President and CEO of Teledyne Technologies, highlighting the company’s expansion within the defense unmanned systems sector. The delivery order follows an initial test and evaluation contract awarded in 2024.
