Viasat has announced the launch of a new satellite service portfolio specifically engineered for government uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) operations. This dedicated suite of solutions, designed to meet stringent government requirements, aims to provide enhanced flexibility, security, and operational control for critical missions.

The portfolio, named the VuaLe portfolio, integrates a range of connectivity services and specialized terminals to support diverse operational needs. Key services include Uncrewed Air, L-MAX, G2X Air, G2X Air Plus, and K-MAX. Each service offers distinct benefits tailored to different mission profiles, giving operators scalable and cost-conscious options. These solutions are designed to support a wide array of applications, from intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) to public safety, border security, defense, and scientific research.

A highlight of the new offering is the Uncrewed Air service. It provides reliable and cost-effective L-band connectivity through Viasat’s global network, aiming to make secure satellite links accessible to a broader range of government and defense operators. This service is built to deliver continuous, resilient communications for mission-critical UAV command and control.

To complement this, Viasat has also introduced a new suite of compact, lightweight, and low-power terminals for UAV integration. Starting at just 440 grams, these terminals are designed to provide a dependable Command and Control (C2) link via L-band, ensuring continuous communication even in challenging environments. Their small size, weight, and power (SWaP) characteristics make them suitable for smaller UAV platforms, offering global reach and operational flexibility.

“The launch of this new service portfolio reinforces Viasat’s commitment to advancing UAV communications with secure, resilient, and flexible solutions,” said Todd McDonell, President of International Government at Viasat. “As demand grows for UAV missions, we aim to enable our customers across government and defense industries to operate with greater situational awareness, operational efficiency, and cost control.”

The introduction of this targeted portfolio underscores Viasat’s focus on addressing the evolving connectivity demands of modern government UAV operations with an integrated hardware and service approach.
